Lacemaker Cottage is a wonderful ‘roses round the door’ stone cottage hidden away in the peaceful and ancient Puzzle Gardens on the hillside in the historic little town of Wirksworth in the stunning Derbyshire Dales countryside. Dating back to 1720 but recently renovated to a superb standard, the cottage retains lots of character with beamed ceilings, stone floors and wooden latched doors, a traditional fireplace with log burner, all blended with quality décor and sumptuous furnishings and fittings.

LOCATION
Ideally located to explore the Derbyshire Dales in the Peak District, there are also many walks from the front door. 500 yards walk up the hill and you’re into the rural beauty of the Dales and a short walk to the famous High Peak Trail with cycle hire, and the start of the Pennine Way bridle path.
Stroll down the narrow historic streets into town and explore the local Artisan shops and cafés. Drink and dine in one of the many charming pubs or restaurants, then maybe even catch a film at the little Northern Lights independent cinema.
20 mins away is the magnificent Chatsworth House and its beautiful gardens, Haddon Hall and the famous Bakewell. Then you’re in the midst of the Peak District to explore its picturesque villages, sparkling rivers and breath-taking views.
Other attractions include Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway, Wirksworth Festival, the astronomers StarDisc, Carsington’s Lakes, Watersports and nature reserve, the National Tramway Museum and the Cable Cars of Matlock Bath.

FACILITIES
There is a very attractive lounge with comfortable sofas, Smart TV and WiFi. and a cosy, glowing log burning stove. Leading on from this there is a sun-drenched dining room with a French farmhouse table, chairs and small dresser.
The property boasts a well-fitted kitchen with bespoke units, cooker, microwave, coffee-maker, SodaStream, DAB radio, fridge/freezer and washing machine.
A downstairs walk-in wet room with shower, sink and WC.
The master bedroom is a beautiful spacious room with cast iron king-size bed and stunning views over the town and Dales.
Across the landing is a smaller twin bedroom with a fold down desk workspace, also with far-reaching views.
Quality Egyptian cotton bed linen and plump towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of logs for the wood burner are included.
There is an attractive cottage garden and decked area with furniture looking over the Dales. Off road parking is available at a first come basis or on the quiet lane.
Pets and smoking are NOT permitted on the premises.
The cottage is situated on a quiet hillside, accessed with a steep but short path.
Weekly bookings are normally from Friday to Friday but short breaks are available throughout the year (excluding Xmas and New Year)
